Crystal Beach, Texas. These two posters, though different in style and message, represent a similar image for me of the Southeast Texas go-to beach. It’s not the cleanest beach or the most extravagant, and it’s never going to be confused with Miami or Laguna…but it’s our beach. And, by golly, we make the most of it. Great people, good food and memories made each weekend.

The Woodstock style poster has a lot of fine print:

Mama Teresa’s Flying Pizza presents The Gulf Coast’s Finest (and only) Beach between Sea Rim and Galveston, featuring: Meacom’s Pier. Catch waves up to 3 ft. high!

The party’s always here, but supplies not included. Bring your own booze • ice chest • koozie • texjoy • rosary

Where the Water’s as Crystal Clear as the Bottom of the Darkest Beer.

Because building on the hurricane-ravaged shore is just good logic. Stay at Swede’s where just one street can host a Christian youth retreat, a drunken fish fry, a bachelorette party, and an intoxicating cajun crawfish boil for retirees all in the same magical night. Every night.

Have a beachin’ time at the ZOO.
